athletes4STEM was launched in 2019 with the goal of being the prime repository for best practices involving athletes from all walks of life who are engaged, active and show a passion for everything tied to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education from around the world. Our mission is simple; to unite bright minds looking to use the platform to make the world a smarter and more engaged community through teamwork, ingenuity, entrepreneurship, smart business practices and innovation.

Director of Community Engagement and Marketing
Joe has over 32 years of award winning strategic communications/marketing, business development and public relations expertise in sports and entertainment brand building, media training, social media, crisis communications and content development.
The Brooklyn, NY native has run communications for the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, the WTA Tour, the USTA, and the International Fight League and since 2008, has been an independent consultant on crisis, social media, strategic planning, brand marketing, publicity and business development for clients that have included or now include: Bloomberg LP, Intel, NFL Media, MLB, Sony Entertainment, Nickelodeon, EPIX, World TeamTennis, Virgin Sports, Wizard Entertainment/Comic-con, TOPPS, the John McEnroe Academy, USA Hockey, USA Rugby 7’s, AVP, USA Wrestling, USA Baseball, and others.
Additionally, the Fordham University graduate (1985) was associate producer for the Tony-nominated show “Lombardi” and was part of the creative team for “Magic/Bird,” the Tony-nominated musical “A Christmas Story,” and the plays “Bronx Bombers” and “Dinner With The Boys.”
He maintains a blog on sports marketing and publicity, “Sports Marketing and PR Roundup,” as well as publishing the first-ever text on the sports PR industry (“Sports Publicity”). Joe has been a guest speaker at a host of institutions and is a frequent spokesperson on the industry for publications ranging from USA Today and The New York Times to NPR and CBS News.
Director of Education and Programming
Alex has been leading education companies for over 20 years. He is currently the Managing Partner of Eduscape, a leading professional learning organization that has delivered educational technology and STEM Education training to over 600,000 teachers. Alex is also the founder of the Rethink Learning Foundation, which is seeking to drive innovation in classrooms globally, especially in underserved communities. As a former college athlete and youth athletics coach for 25+ years, he has a passion for learning through sports and wants to help bridge professional athletes’ passion for supporting STEM education, character development and social emotional skills to benefit children around the globe.
The Queens, New York native has traveled the globe to build partnerships with leading education companies and present at global conferences on education innovation. He recently delivered several spotlight presentations and was on exclusive expert panels at the 5th Annual China Education and Innovation Expo, where he highlighted opportunities in AI in Education, STEAM Foundations and Teacher Professional Development.
Alex has degrees in Physics, Financial Engineering from the London School of Economics, and in Cognitive Learning and Instructional Design.
